Artist & Soul Stylist Auretha Callison

This is my first watercolor painting.

My grandma Doris had all the supplies set up at the kitchen table at the Iowa River House, and explained to me (in no uncertain terms) that even though I didn't like painting acrylics in school, she felt that I should try watercolor. Within an hour, we all were shocked to see that I was a natural.

Grandma was my biggest art cheerleader and I am so thankful to her to this day. I am also very thankful to Beth Fisher, my high school art teacher at Irmo High School, in Irmo, South Carolina, who helped me sell my first painting.

Auretha is a rare painter that truly enjoys painting commissioned works.  She works with interior designers and private clients to create meaningful  paintings to suit existing spaces in homes and hearts.

There's a little magic and much love put into each painting.  Several of her clients have responded emotionally with tears of gratitude.

She enjoys painting portraits of loved ones, whether they are human or not!  She has been painting and winning awards since the age of twelve, when her Grandma insisted that she try watercolor.
It was a love affair from the first painting!
